Guideline #7 - Keeping Your Program Healthy
Keeping your program healthy involves several key practices:
Check-in and Check-out Procedures: Ensure that your library has clear, consistent procedures for checking in and out the telescopes to track their use and condition effectively.
Staff Training: Regularly train your staff to handle the telescopes, answer patron questions, and address any issues that arise.
Regular “Star Party” Events and Promotion: Hosting at least star party events each year can help keep your program healthy. In-library signage and use of social media can keep your program visible and attract new users.
Regular Telescope Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance checks and repairs to keep the telescopes in good working order and extend their lifespan.
